RETROGRADE is a digital gallery that features contemporary art online while simultaneously broadcasting to a closed circuit television in the Downtown Gallery of the Rochester MFA. (107 North Main Street, Rochester, NH)
The purpose of the RETROGRADE Gallery is to cultivate a creative network of artists from around the world through promotion and exhibition. The Rochester MFA is a very inclusive public institution that welcomes artists from all walks of life.
Like a traditional gallery, RETROGRADE exhibits artists on a rotating basis. The shows typically last for about two weeks. There is also a digital archive chronicling all showings long after they have ended.
The Rochester MFA is a non-profit, volunteer effort that boasts a permanent collection that features over 150 donated pieces. The collection is exhibited in public libraries and new work is added frequently. The Rochester MFA also operates a Main Gallery that exhibits borrowed works on a bi-monthly basis.
